About Mortalitatis
The Land of Mortalitatis is a advanced roleplay set in the fictional planet Mortalitatis. The theme is about mortals who possess access to magic, who are often know also as "mancers." In a time far, far away, mancers were only members of the Nobles and people who work for the Nobles. However, since the escape of Arthfael Leuthar St. Augustine, magic has leaked into the common people, and they use it not only for their own good but also to revolt against the corrupt families of the Nobles. Constantly battling on another, the land is torn and tattered. There are two choices ahead for you: either flee or fight.
Mortalitatis
Mortalitatis is the Latin word for "mortality". It is the planet which humans, or mortals, are able to wield power and control over plants, animals, and elements of the universe.
People who are able to do so are referred to as "mancers." They are able to control one or two kinds of elements at their plain will, and are able to use this power for defense, offense, or to ease their daily life. There are many types of mancers; a list of examples will be given on a subpage.
The oldest dates of mancers could date back to the first creation of human, when Pollentia, the goddess of power, bore the sons and daughters of Letum, the god of death. Their children became the first mortals, and they were granted the power to bend elements and other beings at their will.
Their powers are not inherited but obtained by knowledge and years of study. There are few people who show rare intelligence and are more skilled mancers than others, but that depends on their extent of understanding and speed of learning. It is possible that some many not become mancers even if they study for years; they are refered to as "stubs.“ Most times, though, the knowledge of magic may be obtained by self-learning and practice.
Most people are aware of the existence of mancers and abilities, though not as much practice them. This is due to the prohibition the Imperium, the government of Mortalitatis, set upon the people. During the Age of Unrest, people were allowed to become a mancer at their free will, leading to the overuse of magic and the power the gods granted the mortals. To prevent this, the Nobles forbade the practice of magic within the common people, and the only mancers allowed were those belonging to a Noble family or people who work for the Imperium. Humans and anthros who disagree with the ideologies of the Nobles are often self-taught mancers.

The Imperium
The Imperium is the form of government set up by the Six Creators. It is lead by the descendants of the Six Creators: the Nobles. Under the rule of Geoffrey St Augustine, however, the Imperium has taken a drastic change. Establishing the St Augustine family as the royal family, now Geoffrey reigns as Emperor, while what is left of the former Six Noble Families: the del Bosque, the Ferreira, and the Wheelock serve under him. The Chesters broke away from the Imperium and established their own government, while the Beverly were mainly wiped out due to their disagreement with their lar Lymphra's views. Now Geoffrey has all of the remaining families closely monitored, while the Nimrods have been transformed into the St Augustine's personal military.
The State of Nyx
Founded by the Chester brothers, the State of Nyx came to be after the Eruditio war, when the Scintillae joined forces with the Chester family to break away from the Imperium. The State's government structure differs drastically from the Imperium, turning to a more liberal and democratic rule. Having abolished slavery and forced labor, the State is more popular with the general population, and its rising power is slowly threatening the rule of Geoffrey St Augustine.
The UmbraCruor
The UmbraCruor is the band of assassins made up of all kinds of species. They operate in every major location in Mortalitatis, and not always with assassinations. They even have a political side to them as well as an agricultural part, an industrial part, a trading part, and several other sections. They don't have a side in the feud with the Imperium, and the Erudtito but sometimes they are called upon by both sides to do a job. Some might say they're more organized than the Scintillae but they've been around longer than the Imperium, and have been rumored to have begun the Imperium's prejudice towards anthros, and hybrids.

They are divided according to the species they resemble, and most of them are looked down upon by the mortals. They tend to lean towards the Eruditio and the Scintillae, since both organizations welcome them as equal. Hybrids: These are the result of an anthro parent and a mortal parent. They are often rejected by both societies, since to mortals they resemble anthrotrophs; yet to anthrotrophs, they resemble the mortals too much. Some, however, have banded together and are slowly on the rise to power. Mercenaries: Well-trained mancers who do not abide to the laws of either government, but can be hired by any one during times of conflict and war. |
Vases
Vases are humans whose bodies harbor a god/goddess. In order to blend into the mortal world, gods must live inside the body of a vase to hide themselves from being identified. Usually the vase of a god or goddess is a worshipper of the deity, though there are a few exceptions. Vases are able to feel the presence of another vase and have stronger powers than usual mancers, while their conscious remains and their body's control switches between them and the god/goddess they harbor. It does come with a price, however. If the god living inside the vase decideds to suddenly reveal themselves to the mortal world, the vase will burst and/or burn to ashes as a result. There is also a way for the gods to pull themselves out without harming the vase, which requires the god to first put the human's conscious into deep sleep before pulling themselves out of the human body. This process is very time consuming and makes both the god and the vase vulnerable to attacks. thus most gods just choose to destroy their vase and come out when necessary.
Anthros and Hybrids
Note the difference between the anthro and the hybrid. Anthros maintain most of the animal features, while hybrids are more human-like compared to anthros. Hybrids have smooth skin that cover their body like humans, besides the ears and tail that remain animal like, while anthros have fur covering their body and have animal-like ears. Both are typically stronger than humans on physical strength, but they are not as quick learners as humans are when it comes to magic. Most of them also have better senses than humans, though hybrids may have senses that are weaker.
Pets
I am allowing all characters to have mythical pets. This may range from unicorns to Pokemon. Do not try to push my limits though. The God-modding rule still applies to animals as well, and their picture must be anime too. Don't whine to me about how hard it is to find a good anime picture for an animal; if it's too much work for you, then don't make your charrie have one. If I have time, I may help you find one, but I would prefer you to provide me all the resources and all I need to do is copy and paste instead of spending half an hour trying to find a good pic. Also, please note that anthros are not pets.
